Random shots around the web:

  • Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio. Still a complete tool.
  • Rather awesome response to a racist screed. Somebody get this guy a recording contract. Or an appearance on the Colbert Report.
  • There’s a lot I don’t understand on Twitter, such as whatever this person is up to. What is that? A tsunami bot?
  • Ken Lammers attending a conference about reforming the War On Drugs? You know, judging by his posts, he’s slowly turning back into a defense lawyer…
  • Ah, man, what’s this about?

Radley’s going to be writing for Huffington Post and is leaving Reason Magazine for the bigger audience. Bad for Reason, but good for Radley and for perhaps reaching more people (including less preaching to the choir).

Yeah, I heard. That’s kind of cool. You know, anybody can be a libertarian loudmouth–just look at me–but Radley is also a pretty damned impressive investigative reporter. Without the support of any major news organization, he tore into Michael West and Steven Hayne in Mississippi, and he brought enough attention to the Cory Maye case to help get him off death row. I don’t want him to get a swelled head and start thinking he’s better than the rest of us, but he could be excused if he did…

I say with no exaggeration that I’d be slightly less pessimistic about America’s future if Radley Balko were a household name.
