Jack’s Long Day Comes to an End

May 23, 2006 By Mark Draughn Leave a Comment

(You know, I can’t believe I didn’t have a Television Department until now. How could I not have realized the importance of having a Television Department?)

Spoilers for the 24 season finale after the jump.

Spolier Alert

Spoilers ahead for the 24 season finale.

It was nice to see Jack return to his roots in dealing with Henderson (the bad guy played by Peter Weller/Robocop). That’s the Jack Bauer we all know and love.

I think Peter Weller played a really great taciturn bad guy who wasn’t given nearly enough bad stuff to do. I would have liked to see him and Jack face off again. Alas, it’s not meant to be. His character suffered the fate of so many who have pissed off Jack.

The rest of the finale with the President worked out okay too, although it was a bit of an action letdown. I don’t think Jack killed anybody in the last hour. (The Jack Bauer Kill Count site is down, so I can’t check.)

As for the final few minutes, well, as soon as I saw Jack re-united with Audrey Raines it was obvious a twist was coming because (1) this is 24 and they always have a twist, and (2) no one would tune in next season to watch happy Jack all day long.

I predict that the arrival of Jack’s ship in Shanghai will be like the arrival of Dracula’s ship in London. The whole crew will be dead, except for one mysterious figure seen running from the ship…

Update: Edgar is still dead.

Well folks, it’s been a long day. Now there are no more protocols to run, no more sockets to open, no more perimeters to set up…until next year…by which time the writers will have completely forgetten about the cliffhanger.
