Des Plaines TIF: Suburban Transmission

March 2, 2007 By Mark Draughn Leave a Comment

Here's another property threatened by eminent domain in the Des Plaines Five Corners/River-Rand TIF District. The last two businesses I blogged about, the Geiser-Berner plumbing shop and the corner BP Gas Station are both inside what I'm calling the Inner Triangle, the region bounded on the east by River Road, on the southwest by Rand Road, and on the north by the Union … [Read more...] about Des Plaines TIF: Suburban Transmission

The Chinese Government Doesn’t Want You To Read This

March 1, 2007 By Mark Draughn 1 Comment

(Visit the previous Des Plaines entry .)[Update: Visit the next Des Plaines entry.] … [Read more...] about Des Plaines TIF: BP Gas Station

This didn't sound like much of a story when I first heard about it. The University of Illinois had offered 110 scholarships to Illinois veterans for the night MBA program in downtown Chicago. A bunch of veterans were accepted and received … [Read more...] about Broken Promises

February 26, 2007 By GaryO Leave a Comment

My 13 year old dog Lady was diagnosed with a bladder tumor 7 months ago. She was the best dog, always eager to please. She did a very good job of hiding her discomfort, trying to carry on as normally as possible (between peeing). She barked happily when my wife and I came home, ate heartily, followed me everywhere, as she always did, up and down stairs in our split-level … [Read more...] about Too Good – Lady, R.I.P.
