Got the Fever

February 24, 2007 By Mark Draughn Leave a Comment

When I took my father to the hospital two days ago, he was feeling really bad. He even threw up after getting in the car. While he was in the emergency room getting tests, I drove to a nearby do-it-yourself car wash to clean out the car. I wore latex gloves to avoid catching what he had, but apparently I wasn't careful enough. Now I'm puking and crapping and running a fever … [Read more...] about Got the Fever

At the Hospital Yesterday

February 23, 2007 By Mark Draughn Leave a Comment

It extends to an average of … [Read more...] about Your Cell Phone Is Not Killing You

The author touches on it in her opening sentence: At a time when the mere threat of avian flu or SARS can set off a coast-to-coast panic—and prompt the federal government to draw up contingency plans … [Read more...] about HIV/AIDS and the Avian Flu

25 Years of HIV

May 27, 2006 By Mark Draughn 2 Comments

Alexandra Billings has a moving account of the early days of the AIDS pandemic here in America: At a time when the mere threat of avian flu or SARS can set off a coast-to-coast panic--and prompt the federal government to draw up contingency plans and stockpile medicines--it's hard to imagine that the national response to the emergence of AIDS ranged from indifference to … [Read more...] about 25 Years of HIV
