Windypundit

Classical liberalism, criminal laws, the war on drugs, economics, free speech, technology, photography, sex work, cats, and whatever else comes to mind.

Here at Windypundit, 2012 was the year in which:

  • The inevitable drug war deaths remained inevitable.
  • I spoke up for sex workers, although, really, it was just a bunch of links.
  • I became a friend of whores.
  • I explained why criminal violence against the police is not the best response to criminal violence by the police.
  • I showed what it looks like when police are afraid of the truth.
  • I gave some questionable advice about thinking about reasonable doubt.
  • I worried about the long reach of U.S. banking law.
  • I discovered the dangers of searching for a DUI lawyer online.
  • I complained about misuse of Godwin’s law.
  • I commented on some tips for new bloggers.
  • I explained why the NYPD fails at statistical quality control.
  • I voted in a way that would piss off my dad.
  • I addressed the hoodie issue.
  • I took on Paul Krugman’s foolish take on “stand your ground.”
  • I tried to estimate the Mega Millions breakeven amount.
  • John Derbyshire explained black people.
  • I agreed with Kip Hawley that the TSA is stupid…
  • …and they’re spreading like a cancer.
  • My friend Jennifer was in Playboy.
  • I explained why bloggers bother with these issues.
  • I reviewed Shifted by Colin D. Jones.
  • Obama decided he was once again in favor of gay marriage.
  • I started, but never finished, exploring the idea that it’s okay when everybody does it. Part 1, Part 2.
  • The NATO summit came to Chicago and suppressed our freedom in order to save it.
  • Columbia School of Law makes a good argument for a second wrongful execution.
  • I answered an urgent legal question about ladies’ undergarments.
  • I gave up on Movable Type.
  • I reviewed Fragment by Warren Fahy.
  • I complained about the TSA ruining everything.
  • I explained that sometimes your camera matters.
  • The individual mandate paved the way for retaliation.
  • I worried a bit too much about the heatwave.
  • I defended a Chris Rock tweet.
  • I discussed what DNA does’t prove.
  • Florida made it easier to commit crimes without knowing it.
  • I explained why prosecutor blogs are less fun.
  • New York State became slightly less dickish about charitable bail.
  • I celebrated 10 years of blogging.
  • I scolded the DEA for forgetting they’re supposed to stop crimes.
  • Pinellas County, Florida was saved from a Scott Andringa judgeship.
  • The surveillance state continued to grow.
  • Toni Preckwingle damned a drug warrior to hell.
  • I complained about the TSA even more.
  • I had some photos taken.
  • I offered my theory on why cops shoot puppies.
  • I learned that Obama hates American car owners.
  • I explained why a Romney Presidency wouldn’t hurt Big Bird.
  • I noticed some Koch Derangement Syndrome at In These Times.
  • I moved Windypundit to WordPress. Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Finish.
  • I drew some distinctions concerning Lance Armstrong and sports doping.
  • I predicted the results of the election.
  • I made fun of post-election up-down financial market reporting.
  • Chicago’s police-can-do-no-wrong attitude came back to bite it.
  • I pointed out that Mike Huckabee was talking nonsense.
  • I tried a visual explanation of the difference between libertarian society and socialist society.

See you in the nNew Year!
