I remember being young and thinking how lucky I was, living when I did -- the first moonwalk was well before I was born, before I was even conceived, so if science accomplished such things before I even appeared, well then, surely by the time I grew up there would be moon bases and such, right? But the Space Shuttle program launched itself right into a rut.

I wouldn't spend too much time worrying about what those who aren't knowledgeable about modern science don't like.

The iPad, as Scott and some others say, is not the most important device to be developed in the world. It's just a device.

Like the pencil, it is an improvement in the technology of writing, reading, researching -- the latter is particularly unimportant when you already know everything -- which assists those who choose to use it. The knowledge of its existence may somehow hurt those who choose not to utilize it, but other than that, it brings no real harm to the world.

There are benefits to having an iPad for a lawyer, but they aren't necessarily life-changing. They're just useful.

Those who gush over the iPad as if it were the best invention since food are just as ignorant as those who needlessly bash the device because of those who gush over it as if it were the best invention since food.

It's a device. A nice device. I use one and if it died, I'd get another. But if, somehow, some way, all such devices died, those of us who use them would not.
