Random shots around the web:
- Postal service hell.
- Launch a fake North Korean Twitter feed, watch real media pick it up. Kudos to Popehat.
- Whatever else I may think of Obama, I really hope that on his last day in office he provides the “vault copy” of his birth certificate that all the idiot birthers have been asking for.
- The guys at Second City Cop chime in on the arrest of Professor Gates: It’s a scheme by Gates to create an incident so he can sue.
- I understand that they’re posted on Friday, but remind me why they’re called “Funnies”…
- When you search for “recursion” on Google, it askes you if you meant “recursion”. How cool is that?

“Someone was looking for an incident to pay out.”
I’m sorry, but while I don’t think the president should make declarations about police being stupid in local cases that where facts are in dispute, I’m willing to say that SSC’s observation is pig stupid.

Cops twist themselves into pretzels evading a basic legal reality. The law does not protect anyone from insult or hurt feelings. Gates’s alleged crime appears to have been narcissistic injury to a police officer.

There are so many levels to consider with the recent Gates incident. What role did racism really play on both sides, versus perceptual aggrevation, and what role does frustration play in the law when you can be arrested for raising your voice and acting up, versus cooperation.
