As you note, it is absolutely acceptable for people to want their family to decide whether or not they will become an organ/tissue donor. Illinois’ first-person consent registry is intended for those who want to ensure that they have documented their decision to become a donor and help the 96,000 people nationwide waiting for a second chance at life. In either case, you should discuss your decision or desire to be an organ/tissue donor with your family.

Bottom line, we are all working to save lives and we greatly appreciate you interest in the issue.
