Via Scott Ott at the satirical Scrappleface comes an interesting bit of truth about the death penalty.
As you may know (it’s gotten some press), the United States is about to conduct its 1000th execution since the death penalty was reinstated in 1976. However, based on this Department of Justice table (extrapolating for the last three years) there have been about 450,000 murders in the same time period.
It doesn’t mean the death penalty is good policy, but it puts it in perspective.
